Mountain Lion Tranquilized, Captured Outside Santa Rosa Mall

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A mountain lion that was spotted near a mall in Santa Rosa Monday morning has been found captured.

Wildlife officials and police were searching near the Santa Rosa Plaza after the big cat was spotted in a planter box outside the building.

B Street between 7th and 4th Streets was blocked off during the search.

The cat was captured shortly before 10 a.m. and the street reopened.

Police say sightings in this part of Santa Rosa are rare.

"We've had a lot sightings here and there, but usually on the east side of town where the urban interface kind of meets with the wildlife, but not this far downtown," Santa Rosa Police Lieutenant John Snetsinger said.
