Best Bars To Watch Premier League Soccer On The Peninsula

In recent years, international soccer has become a phenomenon here in the states. While local fans abound, finding a Peninsula watering hole for shared game viewing can prove difficult. With games typically airing early in the morning, few bars open early enough to accommodate passionate fans. Here is a list of five of the best Peninsula's best bets for catching Premier League games.

A 23-year-old San Carlos institution, Sneakers Pub & Grill is a family-friendly spot perfect for kicking back with a brew and some good grub to watch the game. The casual atmosphere and plentiful flat-screens draw enthusiastic sports fans in droves. Food portions are generous and the draft beer selections are plentiful. The pub opens at 11 a.m. and will be airing all Premier League games on air after that time, as well as all big games like the Gold Cup Tournament.

A long-time favorite with the Stanford crowd, the Old Pro has been a hot spot for the casual pub crowd for decades. There are plenty of beers on tap, as well as many local beer and wine selections. The food menu includes a variety of sandwiches, pizzas and appetizers. Open at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday, the Old Pro has 24 large screen TVs and will be showing every game aired on Direct TV.

One of San Carlos' newer hotspots, The Office Bar & Grill is on the site of a now-converted real estate office. Open at an early 8:30 a.m. on the weekends, The Office has a full menu, including weekend brunch, lunch, dinner and a kids menu. With 14 TVs, passionate soccer fans enjoy enthusiastic game viewing in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The bar has the International Champions Cup soccer channel and airs all games during open hours.

A traditional Irish pub in the truest sense, Fiddlers Green is owned, operated and staffed almost exclusively by folks hailing from Ireland. Understandably passionate fans of the Celtic Football Club, all football matches are an event at Fiddlers. Patrons can catch games on the big screen, while enjoying all manner of traditional Irish fare like bangers and mash or Irish stew. The pub is open from 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. on Saturday, 9 a.m. on Sunday, and occasionally opens earlier for big games.
