With National Video Game Day falling on Sept. 12th, what better way to celebrate than by playing old video games from one’s youth? Open seven days a week, Concord’s Phoenix Games sells both new and used vintage game systems, accessories and games. The shop carries everything from Nintendo 64 to Atari systems. Phoenix Games also offers repairs on select systems, in addition to disc resurfacing and Gameboy battery replacement. A visit to the storefront can easily turn into an event with plenty of in-store video game systems and pinball machine play. Located adjacent to Zac’s Café in Dublin, Galaxy Games specializes in vintage video games and Magic the Gathering. Open Tuesday through Sunday, players can browse through games for all manner of retro systems such as Super Nintedo, Sega Genesis and Playstation. Selection is limited, but is constantly changing due to high turnover. Prices are reasonable and comparable to or lower than what can be found online, and those looking to unload old games will find decent buyback rates.

Game World is the South Bay’s best bet for sourcing vintage video games. Open seven days a week, the store sells a variety of both new and used systems, as well as provides select repair services. Customers can find everything from Atari 2600 to Nintendo 64 games at competitive prices.  All used consoles and games are tested before resale, and may be tested prior to purchasing.

Prices tend to be on the higher side, but the selection can’t be beat. In addition to games, the store also sells consoles, controllers and a variety of accessories.
