Giants Fan Beating Suspect's Lawyers Seek Video

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) - Lawyers for a man police have accused of leading the brutal attack on a San Francisco Giants fan outside Dodger Stadium hope to secure videotape footage they believe could help clear their client.

Attorney Jose Romero, who is part of Giovanni Ramirez's defense team, said he would file a motion Monday asking a judge to instruct detectives to collect surveillance footage from a service station and other businesses in an area west of Dodger Stadium.

Romero said footage taken on the day of the March 31 attack on Bryan Stow would show that Ramirez had a good covering of hair on his head.

This could be significant because witnesses said one assailant had a shaven head.

Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic and father of two from Santa Cruz, has been in a coma for much of the past two months. He was transferred to San Francisco General Hospital last month to continue care closer to his family.

He remains in critical but stable condition under heavy sedation to prevent seizures caused by traumatic brain injury.

Ramirez was arrested May 22 following an intensive investigation into the beating outside Dodger Stadium. Stow, who was wearing Giants gear, was attacked by two men as he left the stadium. Police are still seeking the other man who took part in the assault and a woman who was spotted driving them away afterward.

Ramirez, 31, has not been charged in the Stow case and remains in custody on an alleged violation of his parole terms.
