Silicon Valley Prostitutes Using Mobile Apps To Accept Credit Card Payments

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Forget about leaving money on the nightstand, Silicon Valley prostitutes are proving to be almost as gadget savvy as their high-tech clients, according to published reports.

CNN reports that South Bay sex workers are allowing wealthy clients to pay using the tiny payment tool that hooks to iPad's and iPhones known as Square. According to CNN's Laurie Segall, the mobile credit card payments are often labeled as "consulting services."

Johns pay up to $400-500 an hour for prostitutes in the area, and business is booming, according to Segall. Prostitutes are drawn to the area because they can charge higher rates to the wealthy clientele.

The sex workers even market themselves specifically to tech professionals by wearing clothing with slogans like "Geeks Make Better Lovers," and using social media to connect with clients.

As we have previously reported, San Jose police have noticed an increase in prostitution activity in recent years.
