Harvin Out For NFC Championship

By Matthew Asher

It seems like Percy Harvin just can't catch a break this season. After playing in just one regular season game, it appears as though the return specialist may only play in one postseason game as well as he is the lone Seahawk listed as out. The good news is that for the second week in a row, the Seahawks have another extremely short injury report list. While last week just six Seahawks were on the injury report, this week only three players (you read that correctly) are listed for Seattle.

Like last week, the big news regarding Seahawks injuries is Percy Harvin. He was able to return to the lineup for the first time since Week 11, but suffered a concussion in the game against New Orleans. Harvin did not practice at all this week and is officially listed as out for the game.

On Thursday head coach Pete Carroll said that Harvin was still going through the NFL’s concussion protocol and that it would be up to the physicians who decide if Percy can play or not on Sunday.

While Marshawn Lynch is technically listed on this week’s injury report, don’t worry. Beast Mode did not practice on Wednesday, but it was not due to any injury. He was able to return and fully participate in practice both Thursday and Friday. He is listed as probable.

The other two Seahawks listed this week were also listed on last week’s injury report. Backup defensive tackle Jordan Hill (groin) was on the report last week for the same injury. He was unable to participate in practice on Wednesday but was able to participate in a limited amount on both Thursday and Friday. Hill is listed as questionable and is Tony McDaniel’s backup.

The final ‘Hawk listed this week is backup weak-side linebacker KJ Wright (foot). Wright was the only Seahawk last week listed as out for the New Orleans game. The good news is that he was back in practice starting Wednesday. He was limited the first day but on both Thursday and Friday he was back to full participation. He is listed as probable. Currently Malcolm Smith is listed as the starter, but Wright could still play. "If he's ready to play, he's playing," Carroll said on Thursday, when talking about the possibility of Wright returning to the lineup this weekend, so expect him to still get some snaps in against San Francisco.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm PDT.

For reference:

  • Probable: a 75% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game

  • Questionable: a 50% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game

  • Doubtful: a 25% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game

  • Out: there is no chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
