Best 4th Of July Concerts In The Bay Area

Fourth of July events offer the perfect opportunity to celebrate our nation's independence. While elaborate fireworks displays typically draw big crowds, enjoying a celebratory concert can also provide for a festive experience. This year, the Bay Area will have a variety of patriotic concerts celebrating the 4th. Here are five of the best options.

Each year, the Shoreline Amphitheater partners with the San Francisco Symphony to put on a spectacular 4th of July show. This family-friendly event frequently sells out early, despite the amphitheater's generous 22,500 seats. This year, the San Francisco Symphony will be playing a variety of inspirational pieces around the theme of the "Summer of Love: 50th Anniversary". The concert starts at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a fireworks extravaganza.

This year marks the Oakland Symphony's 9th annual 4th of July Eve celebration. Held at 8 p.m. the night before the holiday, the Symphony puts on a concert featuring a broad range of music. Concert goers will enjoy everything from sing-a-longs to Sousa marches. The event is family-friendly, and the evening will be capped off by a symphony-accompanied display of fireworks.

Head on over to Pier 39 at noon on the day of the 4th for a day of fun and live music. The day-long celebration will include a variety of entertainment and activities. Take a break from the festivities with a visit to the pier's famous sea lions, or sample some local seafood at one of the pier's many restaurants. The day of entertainment will culminate in a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

The Marin County Fair will be holding an Independence Day Celebration on the evening of the 4th that will culminate with a performances by an incomparable lineup of artists from the 60's featuring The Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie, The Association, Chuck Negron formerly of Three Dog Night, The Box Tops, The Cowsills and The Archies starring Ron Dante! Plus fireworks at 9:30pm.

Every year, the city of Morgan Hill pulls out all the stops to put on a fantastic 4th of July celebration. Favorite events include the family street dance, parade, car show and Freedom Run. On the evening of the 3rd, the community will enjoy the 29th annual Patriotic Sing, designed to share traditional American songs with today's youth. Local children join the chorus and rehearse for months before performing, while concurrently participating in community service projects. The Patriotic Sing is a great way to support the next generation of patriots, as well as honor our service men and women.
