Copycats: The Best Cover Bands In The North Bay

The Bay Area music scene is diverse and plentiful, as local music fans are well aware of. Among the many bands and singers that are in the area are a great set of cover bands of various styles of music. Here are six North Bay cover bands that are worth checking out, whether you’re in the mood to rock down or funk out.

Band Camp

The proud recipient of two five-star reviews on GigMasters.com, Band Camp creates a campy, fun adventure in music with each concert. Its five members happily play for weddings, corporate events and at bars and restaurants alike. Band Camp specializes in the super groups of the 80s like Journey, Guns N’ Roses and Def Leppard. Earlier this fall, Band Camp hosted a live show at Sprenger’s Tap Room in Santa Rosa and regularly plays in the North Bay and across the Bay Area.

Firewheel

The members of Firewheel fuse rock, country and folk with a unique mix of songs. This five-piece band’s set list includes songs from Johnny Cash, Crosby, Stills & Nash and other Americana favorites, as well as unexpected selections like Gnarls Barkley. Firewheel plays regularly across the Bay Area with recent shows at The Plough and the Stars in San Francisco and several benefit concerts in the North Bay.

The Fabulous Luv Rustlers

The Fabulous Luv Rustlers

Sebastopol’s own The Fabulous Luv Rustlers played for the town’s summer concert this year bringing its vintage rock sound to the North Bay. The Fabulous Luv Rustlers’ gig list includes songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix and other classic rock favorites. The Fabulous Luv Rustlers have played all over the North Bay and are happy to play for corporate events and weddings.

AM Radio Band

AM Radio Band can play it all from Madonna, Marvin Gaye and Earth Wind & Fire to Frank Sinatra and Kanye West. If it makes you want to get up and dance, AM Radio Band will be there to help you boogie. From oldies to current hits, AM Radio Band plays it and plays it well. Although most of the group’s recent gigs have been private concerts, the band occasionally plays at local venues throughout the Bay Area and Marin County.

Project 4 Band

It’s a testament to the quality of the Project 4 Band that the group’s calendar is booked solid. The band and leader Gerald Glasper have played all over the Bay Area as well as in Sacramento, Reno and Las Vegas. The funk, soul and rhythm and blues band of six musicians perform classic hits from Michael Jackson, Tom Jones, Rick James and other soul singers.

Buck Ford and the Pure Country Band

Country recording artist Buck Ford heads a different sort of cover band. Buck Ford and the Pure Country Band focus on their namesake genre, that of country. Buck’s smooth tenor ably covers hits from Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, George Jones and many other country favorites. Buck and the band have also released their first CD. Buck will be playing in both Chico and Reno in March 2013, and other local shows will be announced on his website.
